“The logic of divestment couldn’t be simpler: if it’s wrong to wreck the climate, it’s wrong to profit from that wreckage.”

– Bill McKibben

Whitman has taught us to be critical thinkers, sparks to catalyze positive change, pioneers for justice and equity, and stewards of our communities. As we strive towards these goals, we turn back and find that the College is not striving for the same standard. As long as Whitman College profits from unsustainable, dirty, unjust fossil fuel pollution, we hold the College accountable to the values, policies, and beliefs implicit in its mission.

Calling on all alumni to show your support for Divest Whitman and sign the alum petition today!

“It has been my experience that Whitman tends to follow the trends of the schools we compare ourselves to, rather than going ahead of the pack to lead. I can’t tell you how proud it would make me to see Whitman be that leader on climate change.” Add your name to the petition today!

Put your money where your mouth is – and don’t donate to Whitman!

DonateAs alumni, we have more power to wield and more accountability to hold. Our donations support the College but, when withheld, have the weight to pressure the Board of Trustees to divest from fossil fuels. Give a donation to our Responsible Endowment Fund today!
